My passion for Farmers Markets started over twenty years ago as a customer at the Roadrunner Park Farmers Market in Phoenix.
Over the years I've had the pleasure of being in many roles of the industry, and Farming has continued to be my favorite.
This is the co-op I work with for all of the extra connections to Farms around the state. This is how I can source fruits and veggies from southern AZ & now the northern part of AZ. Trying to do all of that on my own every week would be a daunting task. I'm very grateful to have a good working relationship with this organization. They are working to become a non-profit organization and do a lot of great work connecting the Farmers to local entrepreneurs and also to the local school districts. They are working to bring back the idea of fresh local and seasonal fruits and veggies into the kids' daily meal programs, as well as, creating a very cool program called Farm Raiser. This model specifically works with schools, businesses and community organizations to create a CSA-style program that parents and local community members can subscribe to (with cash or EBT). A percentage of the profit from the program goes back to the school to assist with funding for field trips, extra supplies, activities, etc.
